Excitement and anticipation filled the air, stirring up the fog of exhaustion. We were in a bus with 4 other teachers, luggage stuffed away along with our doubts. We knew that good things lie ahead. Small talk ensued between the yawns. The bus led us down windy roads, pushing and pulling us from side to side. Silence fell upon us when we turned the corner over-looking the city. Just before midnight, streets were lit brightly and we could see the vast landscape of Medellín. A valley surrounded by hills, the life of the city was tucked in snugly. Clouds hung at our level, like chandeliers darkened over the table of nightlife.
